Dr. Sangita Roy

Dr. Sangita Roy is the Co-Founder and Director (Innovation & Technology) of BanavatNest Private Limited and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala. Her journey reflects a strong combination of academic excellence, technological innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurial vision.

She earned her Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Patna. During her doctoral studies, she completed an internship at the TCS Innovation Lab, received a fellowship from Tata Consultancy Services, and secured project funding from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. She subsequently worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow under the supervision of Prof. Yuval Shavitt in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Tel Aviv University, Israel. She has also served as a Senior Research Scientist in Blockchain Technology at IIT Bombay.

Dr. Roy’s research interests include cryptography and network security, blockchain technology, image processing, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and deep learning. Her research has been published in reputed journals, including Security and Communication Networks and the International Journal of Communication Networks and Distributed Systems. She has also presented her work at internationally recognized conferences such as IEEE GLOBECOM, IEEE SASO, and COMSNETS, as well as at prestigious platforms including MIT, Cambridge, USA, and Microsoft TechVista, India.

At BanavatNest, Dr. Roy leads technology development, product innovation, and the transformation of research concepts into practical software and hardware solutions. She plays a central role in developing interdisciplinary projects involving AI, IoT, cybersecurity, blockchain, intelligent sensing, and automation. Her vision is to build purpose-driven technologies that address real-world challenges while creating opportunities for students, researchers, and professionals.

Beyond academics and technology, Dr. Roy has a deep passion for creativity and the performing arts. She is a trained Kathak dancer and has received several awards in dance, art, debate, speech, and recitation. She has also pursued courses in acting, modelling, and photography and enjoys playing musical instruments, including the harmonium, violin, keyboard, and harmonica. An enthusiastic cook and solo traveler, she values cultural exploration, lifelong learning, and creative expression.
